Quite possibly an unstable OC be it the gpu/cpu oc or both.

What's stable in other games/BM's may not be stable in a very, very demanding title that Crysis 3 is.

Put your clocks down to 1050 or so and test again, if it doesn't crash you know it's the clocks, if it does then it may well be a driver/game issue.

+1.

Sounds like a display driver crash/reset to me. :)

Crysis 3 saps power limit is set at 118%. Playing this takes it to 130%

In short there should be a benchmarking tool made for the game and used instead of anything else. Its a way more demanding test than usual benchmarks

Any tips for Eyefinity 1080 res on a 6970? It's going to chug I'm sure.

Clock the nuts off of it and turn the settings down.

Just started playing it on my HD7970 / Eyefinity setup and it generally plays quite well at medium settings / high textures (25-45fps).

High is a no go with fps dropping into the high teens.

I am downloading the latest beta drivers to see if anything improves (currently on 12.11 beta something or other - I lost count after 4).

I also have some headroom left in the 7970 as I haven't really pushed this card at all - came clocked at 1050/5700 out of the box.

New drivers and clocks of ~ 1250/6800 should see around 30-55 at the same settings as above.

Well, it seems I probably won't be able to play the game at all. I'm stuck on 11.12 as every Ati driver after that has serious microstutter issues with WoW and Eyefinity. I play WoW more than anything else so meh.
Think I'll by an nVidia card.

Shame because Crysis 3 looks gorgeous.

Nvidia suits WOW better from what I have read and I am sure you can still get a good price for the 6970, as still decent cards.

All these pics are all 1920x1080p

everything maxed except post processing , shaders ,shadows are all set to high , and with AA off and vsync off.

as i have now overclocked CPU nvidia experience has now set everything to max except shadows which is on high and AA is on SMAA Meduim (2TX), and im getting more FPS at about an extra 10-20fps ..

why am i getting these results ?

it runs so bloody smooth but others are having trouble with practically the same set up ..i nver drop below 50 fps now and average at about 75 fps.

the GTX 680 is overclocked though with a GPU offset + 120mhz and mem offset +530mhz with power target 136%

also on these pics it shows my GPU temp to high , i have now set it to 75% fan and now i get around 57-65C

I've turned AA off completely and switched to downscaling from 1440p. All settings on V.High it runs around the 30-40fps mark which seems smooth for this game. Better than 1080p with AA anyway.

^ Start a new game in very high and dont move anywhere then take a screenshot. See what FPS you get - would be interesting as my 670 gets 46fps

1080p with SMAAx1 - 38fps
1440p no AA - 28fps

I expected it to be lower than with AA but it feels more stable and consistent. Surprised it's lower than the 670, maybe it's something I have set in CCC.

What card do you have?

killswitch73 - could you try the same. With a few settings turned down in 1440p it plays much better - I cant stand drops below 30fps now when the lowest is ever about 40 and 60 most of the time...

Plus it still doesn't exactly look bad (single player and multiplayer)

I can play it (All High + 2x SMAA) with that the lowest FPS i get is 30 and with vSync on highest 60. very smooth like that.

At (All Very High + 2x SMAA) the lowest FPS i get is 20, its unplayable, still smooth'ish, but very lagy.

I think this game is less about the GPU and more about the CPU.

I'm running a Phenom II x6 1090T @ 4.1Ghz with a 7870 @ 1140 / 1450.
My GPU usage @ (All High + 2x SMAA) is 87% @ 30 FPS, at (All Very High + 2x SMAA) the GPU is down to 77%

See pictures

So clearly there is more performance in the GPU, i'm getting a CPU bottleneck.

AMD say the 7870 can play it All Very High + 2x SMAA, it probably could if it wasn't for my CPU holding my GPU back.

The FX-8350 is a lot faster than my old x6, according to reviews on this game.
Time for a change, i think.
