Here you go ...

7970 @ 1125/1575 - 13.11 b1
R9 290X @ 1000/1250 - CD from in the box

7970 Valley - Score 1990, FPS 47.6, Min FPS 26.4, Max FPS 90.9
290X Valley - Score 2104, FPS 50.3, Min FPS 28.4, Max FPS 90.6

7970 Heaven - Score 964, FPS 38.3, Min FPS 19.4, Max FPS 83.8
290X Heaven - Score 1184, FPS 47, Min FPS 23.6, Max FPS 93.7

7970 Vantage - 40074
290X Vantage - 41059

So not a huge leap at the moment but lets see what overclocking brings. I've got an EK block on pre-order. Also, new drivers out later.

Some throttling noticed at 93-94c. Adjusted fan profile and it stopped throttling. Not that noisy.

wow - makes the 7970/280x look a bargain !

Post updated with clocks at 1125/1450

290Xoc Valley Score 2298, FPS 54.9, Min FPS 30.0, Max FPS 103.2
290Xoc Heaven Score 1287, FPS 51.1 Min FPS 25.3, Max FPS 102.7

I've read that Valley isn't a good test at all for the 290X yet.

The drivers supplied in the box will be very out of date for a brand new card, so I'd pretty much ignore any comparisons until you've updated later today on the new ones.

Yes, see what the new ones are like. I dont think they will be very out of date though. The CD drivers are 13.25.18-131007a-163510E-ATI which I believe are 13.11 beta 3

Are you using the forum settings for Heaven and Valley ?

Hows your "gut" feeling for the card so far ?

Cheers

Yes, using the forum settings. I'm not in danger of setting any records.

Gut feeling is good but I'm yet to play any games.
