Grats GM :), Those 295x2's were a cracking deal imo , You stick to what ever side you like! We buy cards to suit our budget/needs not what others want

Hi chaps noticed the 290X ONLY £269.99 deal and just wanted to ask is it a worthy upgrade from my GTX680 2GB considering I only game at 1080p and have no plans of going higher? My aim to max out everything in games and never hit below 60fps. I think I can get around £180 for my GTX680 so that means I'm just adding £90 to get a 290X.

If the 680 handles everything fine at 1080 and that's what you plan on sticking to, I wouldn't upgrade until you start noticing a lack in performance.

I think it's more the fact that I'm not all "AMD, hallelujah! Can I get an amen!?" so they tell me to get an Nvidia card.
I don't exactly recall many people (other than a few) going "hallelujah AMD" mode and hyping the hell out of it.

I think you are getting your "fact" wrong...nobody is forcing you to praise AMD. You don't seem to realise that you are getting singled-out because of the "fact" that you approach almost everything or anything AMD related with negativity, almost like you have a personal grudge against it.

Don't take it from me...ask anyone who have seen enough of your posts if they notice that pattern from your posts.

That is a GTX 690 you are comparing it to which is nearly twice as fast as GTX 680.:D

OP here is a comparison to a GTX 770 which is similar to a GTX 680 but about 5 or 10% faster.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1037?vs=1056

WOW the 290 is a lot faster than my 680 in BF4

Battlefield 4 - 1920x1080 - Ultra Quality
Frames per Second - Higher is Better
770: 57
290X: 71.2

Might get the Sapphire Tri 290 instead and overclock it to match the 290X, the Sapphire has better cooling.

i know i did say they don't have the 680 listed hence why i put the 690, tbh i really didn't know the 690 is nearly twice as fast as GTX 680, I've only owned 2 NVIDIA gpu's in the past 17 years.

Under the hot sun.
Kaapstad add me on the list. :)

A proud owner of a mighty Sapphire 295X2 :D

Which for some of my colleagues doesn't make sense. One saw yesterday the card, asked the price and said "why not buy xbox one to play games, is cheaper".

(and that came from someone who buys the latest Apple toys all the time....lol).
