So that inno3d titan x cooler thing - says only 5db quieter than the original cooler in the specs. That's not much of a reduction at all is it?

How much quieter is the NZXT kraken thing? I'm looking to get one of these closed loop easier things to watercool my next build in a few months. What's the best thing to buy for a GPU at the moment? (Will be for a titan x or '980ti')

What you planning on playing, what resolution?

Briefly...

Whole new separate gaming build with ample space for SLI and cooling. Latest games, max settings. Currently using rog swift but got an eye on going 4k some time soon possibly. Budget will be fairly large.

Just looking for cooling ideas at moment as I want it to be quiet too. Was considering going the whole complicated water cooling route, but didn't know about these simple closed loop things like the krakens etc until recently. They seem like a much better option to me as a total watercooling virgin.

Someone installed EVGAs GTX980 AIO on 2 or 3 Titans a few pages back on this thread. No modding needed.

I'd be looking to do something almost exactly like this guy's setup: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=27927530&postcount=3340

which is the same sort of thing, and using the Kraken G10 things.

What I need to know is, how quiet are these things? They still have fans, but I'm guessing the fans run very slowly so are virtaully inaudible? Unlike a GPU fan like on the Titan going at 60 -70%

Its very similar to what you are looking at, here is the post :

I personally prefer the Evga AIO as its a closed shroud (like the Titan Xs cooler)

In terms of fans you can use your own and maybe push/pull with fan controller so they run slower and cooler ?

the fan pins go straight onto the GPU board, but it is a smaller plug than your case fans

but you can probably get :-

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-094-XS&groupid=962&catid=1520

to fit under the stock shroud, but you'd have to be pretty good at DIY to botch it to fit

i wouldn't bother with any of it, i'd go for a full water Block

they're quite a lot quieter under load, ideally DON'T use NZXT Cooler the pumps on mine where louder then the fans, temps came down about 20 degrees on the GPU BUT VRam got so hot without heatsinks.

so basically grab a G10 a backplate and some low profile sinks (to go under fan) and mod it all together for best results.

personally i'm sending back the G10's/X31's i have went back to stock (as above) and going to go the full custom loop route in the summer

the Arctic Air cooler drops the temps 25 degrees and is quiet, but the Backplate is a sloppy design and as ugly as sin....... but without it you cant cool the RAM, because there's no air pressure left after passing through the huge radiator, to cool the Board above.

this inability to cool TX on the cheap is because Nvidia refuses to let anyone modify their card, i.e if this was a 290X you'd be ok.
