Ok don't get this folks, this morning Im able to run 3dmark just fine.

Now it seems to be running through, or crashing randomly.
It would just drop back to desktop.

Now I did try an overclock earlier, but this was like hours ago and since clocked back to defaults.

Is there anything else I need to do? Why would I be experiencing these crashes if everything was at stock?

Try a slight voltage bump? It might be over-reaching for some reason?

My 980ti MSI gaming is doing great noise and performance wise, the fans don't turn on unless gaming making it silent at idle and low usage, and even when they're running they are still quiet, I only hear them when going through a load screen (so no in game sound) and even then the noise is not really what I would call annoying (I find the type of noise something makes is usually more annoying than the volume it does it at, these fans seem designed to be both quiet and un-intrusive).

For reference I am quite intolerant of noise and have set my system up to avoid it (I returned a GTX980 Hybrid as I found it too noisy), I have a Noctua D15 heat sink on my CPU and a Noctua NF-F12 rear case fan for exhaust both of which are using my motherboards "silent" PWM fan curve preset. For intake I have a pair of Noctua NF-P14s 900RPM 140mm Quiet Case Fans and a pair of Noctua NF-S12B 700RPM 120mm Quiet Case Fans all of which are using my motherboards "silent" voltage based fan curve preset, at idle the system is essentially un-hear-able (at 2am if I listen really hard the first noise source I can detect is the hum of the fridge/freezer in the room below).

Incidentally, what are are your (and everyones) fan spinning at vs temperature?

For example my fans are spinning at around 35% when the GPU temp is 72C.

Does this sound about right?

I have one on the way, so this news makes me happy, as i was hoping for a reduction in noise from my existing system. I'd have liked a few more reviews of the card on the tech sites to keep me keen while I await the delivery of all my new kit

Running unengine valley the max it got to was 77c (top card) 72c bottom card. But i do have the fan speeds ramped up to about 60-70% at that temperature. (top card 68% bottom 56%)

My 980s were about 5c cooler on the same settings so it seems to be about right.

Have got a few fans to swap out as the front + bottom ones are pretty rubbish have some others which are almost double the cfm coming monday.

It has also been a hot weekend, had to get my trusty homemade 140mm USB fan out lols.

Got a tracking update early hours this morning and turned out my Gigabyte G1 had actually shipped so thanks Overclockers, made my weekend that has. Couldn't say what fps I am getting in games as I haven't bothered checking yet but the difference from my old card is unreal. Runs very quiet so far too, keep looking in my case to see if the fans are actually running as I can't hear them over my case fans even when under load.

At stock volts with my MSI gaming I've run a few benchmarks at 1465MHz. I think I would be pretty happy with that as my maximum for gaming. This is with +150 on the core in Precision and GPU-Z shows a 1290MHz base clock and 1378MHz boost clock. When using the OC mode in the Gaming APP it boosts to 1341MHz out of the box. It also is a very quiet card when gaming and not even a little coil whine so far.

My EVGA card has a really annoying resonating sound at certain fanspeeds

I heard about this on the 780 series but I thought they had fixed it.

My MSi Gaming 6G tops out at about ~1430Mhz on the core any higher and I get crashing.
