Decided to treat my excellently OC'ing 980 Ti to a full cover and back plate:-

Just checked gpuz with Heaven and my Zotac Amp is boosting to a max of 1239.9 at 1.1870v, but only for a short time before dropping back down to 1227.3 at 1.680v and staying there.
Hit 73c and a 70% fan speed.
Those are out of the box speeds, not touched anything at all.
Also not in the best of cases for this kind of thing. Only 1 120mm fan on the front blowing cold air in!
Replacement is on order! Don't hit me.

Has anyone owned a 290/X reference card and a 980 Ti reference? Would you say that Nvidia's cooler is quieter at the same fan speed percentage?
I can't find any comparison videos of the two coolers
It's not even close, the Nvidia one is significantly quieter.
The Nvidia one also has a much nicer tone to it, just a whoosh of air.

Until yesterday I had 2 x 290 reference cards in my PC, and I couldn't believe how quiet it was when I switched to integrated graphics. I think that means I need a card like the Gaming 6G or G1.

If you're going for one card then I definitely recommend a non-reference model.
The reference cooler is okay but once you start overclocking it reaches 290 noise levels.
One of the Inno's x3 Ultra i had to RMA due to a really annoying noise under load (constant buzz not coil whine) The one in the wife's pc is fine so i changed mine to as G1 as the Inno was out of stock and i wanted fastest turn around. Great service from OCUK support as usual!

just got my zotacs 980ti's and running them in sli
so far in msi +250 on core and 200 on memory.
when i go to gpuz it says core:1250mhz ,boost:1326 mhz right?
so does the card run at 1250mhz or 1326 mhz when gaming?

Also about to return my Inno for that problem. Can you tell me how you're finding the G1 compared to it? I'm torn between that, Msi and the Hybrid (love the cooler of the Inno but I don't want to get burned twice).

Click the sensors tab and run a bench mark and see what it records.

ok went to gpu z and clicked on sensors and on gpu core it is as follow:
max:1452mhz
min:135mhz
so do i say i have over clocked it to 1452mhz? or 1326mhz?

How are people running these custom cards that chuck the heat into the case I notice most people are taking photo"s with the case door off, dont know if that's just for photo purpose? I have always run my last few cards with an open case, but since getting the 750D Corsair its been closed. The biggest benefit is not having to clean my CPU radiator and fan every other week for dust. But it does make these G1 cards run hotter pushing CPU temps up. Thinking of putting an intake fan on the bottom to push air up to the card.
