what bios elmarko?
This one

Here is a modded BIOS with 425W power target:

- Based on the EVGA SC BIOS, no boost limit
- 350W default power target at 100%
- 425W max power target at 121%

http://www.overclock.net/t/1558645/official-nvidia-gtx-980-ti-owners-club - Using that bios my power limit never goes above 80% (which is about 270/290W) the default +10% is a little too really, it should be a stock +20% power & hardly anybody would need to flash the bios.

Obviously there is a risk, but I got sick of the power throttling causing my clocks to go all over the place.

@ Air I had 1445 stable
@ water 1475 stable (No power used for air coolers)
@ water /w bios 1525 stable (no power cap, but hitting volt caps now on one of the cards).

Both MSI 980ti Reference.

For SLI you can do reference, or two good aftermarket ones your happy with high fan speeds. I'd say the MSI G6 aftermarket cooler for SLI seems good , with a side panel fan to improve air flow.

SLI on air reference for me the killer was the noise, so it needs to be an air cooler you can stand @ 70/80%.

I have the same card as you on custom water. Currently running 1400mhz @ stock volts. Is there a danger of using the said custom bios? How can you tell that you're hitting the volt and power caps?

Updating the bios can always have a risk of turning the card into an expensive paperweight!.

Load up GPU-Z & under "Sensors" it will give you the perf cap reason, also monitor your power limit in MSI afterburner - if it's going to 110 often & the clocks reduce your hitting the limit.

If you can't get to the power limit & hitting other barriers this early then one of the cards may not be that great of an overclocker. I'd be surprised if your hitting the power limit at 1400 but all cards are different, what settings are you using in AB?.

Running max power, +0 volts and 220+ core and +400 memory if memory serves me correctly. Running a single card btw.

Here are my settings

5LXBcAB.png
In BF4 I am constantly hitting my voltage limit. I tried going to max voltage with the same settings and the core clock went up to 1430 however there was still a '1' for the voltage limit. Any thoughts?

Has anyone with an amp edition opened up the zotac logo near the top? Looks like it should illuminate and seems to only do it on the xtreme edition. Wonder if theres anything underneath the plate that can be connected to illuminate it? From pics at least it looks like its a lens of some type for an led.

What kind of temps are you guys getting when gaming with 1450Mhz+?

And what fan speeds/fan curves are you using?

Just want to compare mine and see if it's running ok.

Mines 1474Mhz and temps reach 73-75 with BF4, 77 with Witcher 3 and 77 with Dying Light.

Fan speed around 75%-80%

Yep, "Twirlywoos that would be brilliant" is a great name!

Be sure to post your request in the General Discussion forum, for best results.

Never :D

Can't believe how nice and quiet this card is compared to the 670 Windforce SLI I had before. 67 degrees c is when I notice the cards start to throttle down by 12Mhz.

So far I've maxed out the power limit which is 109 for my card and increased the core clock only (not touched memory yet) by +160 which gives 1514Mhz and it is stable in Valley and BF4 sessions. For those who are ASIC conscious my card is 74.5%

How do I measure VRM temps also? I want to get useful information before I wack the Kraken G10 on this, probably at the weekend, if not next week.

Ok so currently building (slowly buying bits) for a new water cooled rig.

Want to buy a pair of 980ti's. ... but which ones? I plan to water cool but run on air first to get it built and check everything works (and use them in current rig whilst I but the rest if the bits).

So.....do I buy a reference card eg zontac for sub 500. Which I know has an existing block...or do I splash out 100+ more per card and get a non-ref board for potentially better over clocking but may have to wait for the blocks to come out?

Are we seeing a massive difference between ref and non-ref in oc potential?

Wouldn't mind buying today to have them to play for the weekend ;)

I believe the Zotac 980 Ti Amp has a reference board.

Would get reference cards and EK full cover blocks as with that kind of outlay it won't be worth an extra £100 per card for minimal performance gains. Out of interest why do you need two? Assuming it's not for BF4 right?

Think I've settled on my 24/7 settings

This was after a 45min run of the render test on GPU-z
Ran Dying Light for about an hour & temps were similar (Maxed at 70c (fan 52%)) & performance was solid.
