For 509£, it's the one to get. It doesn't look as tacky in person.

I can confirm no coil whine from mine whatsover even after 8 hours on Arkham Knight @ 4K which is about as demanding as it gets gaming wise right now its still 100% silent & I sit about 2ft away

Seen another review that put it at 42.9db.

My real world 1 month so far experience with the x3 is that its 100% silent so the first review is accurate IMO. I only sit about 2ft away even after 8 hours canning the GPU on Arkham Knight @ 4k its still silent you can barely hear it I had to open the case a few times to check the 3 fans were even on

I will confirm that after about 35% fan rpm you can hear it a little & after about 55-60% fan rpm its way too loud but you would have to either have a very poorly ventilated case & or doing something wrong to get it to generate that much noise/heat

You can mod the existing fans though just remove & replace for 2 x 140 or 120 mm silent fans should do the trick but it will turn it into a 3.5 slot GPU :eek:

You do need a very strong PSU though it really hammers weak PSU's I had to drop £200 last week to buy a 1050W Seasonic Snow silent from OCUK my Seasonic X750W was not strong enough after 1 month it had degraded too much & could no longer handle the GPU in my system (which is very power hungry overall). I put it down to high ambient air temps :eek:

Hmm, have 2 980ti's w/ my 40" 4k monitor but using my old 970 rig /w 24" as it feels better for LoL at this size....

This would be fine, but I'm currently playing this exclusively so feel like I'm wasting a top end PC atm.... roll on new games!. Anybody else have a preference for certain games & monitor size?, making upgrading redundant in some ways?.

Yeah I went up to 32" but it literally made me sick for gaming, to close for that size for me. It was awesome for movies.

I'm back on dual 24" DELL 1080P IPS screens, get on much better with these for gaming. I think 27" is the most I can handle for PC / Desk.

Any of you guys on Windows 10? I'm finding some very weird things happening with my Ti and msi afterburner. Was rock solid on 8.1.

It's almost like Afterburner isn't working correctly. Sometimes clocks getting stuck at 1000mhz and very low usage. Fans sometimes don't even ramp up anymore.

For competitive gaming it's understandable to ditch the 40". How do you feel with things like The Witcher 3 for example?

Considering a second strix for sli, I've enough room to have 2 slots clear between the cards. Just not really sure how it would affect temps and noise. From reviews adding a second card that doesn't exhaust seems to add around 8-10 c to the top card. Just not sure if its worthwhile currently.

I personally wouldn't bother with another 980Ti until either: 1) It's price drops or 2) I need the power.

But I guess I have a bit of value for money in me, rather than being a full on enthusiast.

Ever thought of adding a second card that has an AIO, that would minimise the extra heat being blown around. As you are at Ultra HD I feel that is where SLI 980Tis are most useful.

For that I'll use thr 4k 40" setup without a doubt.

But for competitive gaming I find myself drawn to 24" 1080p!

I did get that when I changed power management to Max performance in the NVIDIA control panel. Changing it back the default "adaptive" sorted it. Extra monitors connected can also cause problems with idle clocks too.

Its odd, if i don't use the asus utility it seems to go back to 2d, if i put it to gaming mode or oc mode in the asus utility it seems to stick to 3d. :confused:
