If you wanted to save a few quid, a quality 750w psu from any of the manufacturers stulid has mentioned will also be fine. Overclocked to 4.5ghz and running overclocked gtx 670's in sli saw a max power draw at the wall of 580w for me when benching 3dm11, (incl monitor).

just received my asus maximus v extreme board about hour ago so happpppppppy i was sleep mum bought it in for u s lol.

wasn't expecting it to be that early gj ocuk

the outer red box was damaged had little hole through it but it didn't penetrate the inner black accessories box i think, cant see any visual markings just the outside has small hole where its been damaged in transportation i reckon.

i quickly checked the accessories everything look to be in order.

ohhhhh so happy my first mobo nad build ahahha so its excited has you can tell.

now i have the mobo i need to find out if i can use the cpu 4 pin psu cable can be used on the 4 pin socket.

there a 8 pin and 4 pin cpu power socket on the mobo also i need to get some cheap ram and the h100i not going to use the stock cooler because i haven't got any tim remover.

I definitely don't mean to sound rude.
However what are you researching? All that Stulid have mentioned will not really changed at any point soon. These will still be awesome PSU's for a few years.

However that's a hell of a board.

i was researching how the psu works basic stuff to get better understanding.

im definitely getting one the psu from the list Stulid provided but i don't have the money right now to buy.

i have spare psu but its only a 4 pin cpu connector and i need the 8 pin.

i need to test the mobo because by the time i get all the parts it will be like 2 months have gone past.

guys when i do the test outside, do i need to connect the mouse too or just keyboard and the connecter i have to use are they ps2 or usb .

Yes you do have all you need.

Use the USB ports, PS2 is found on some high-end overclocking boards as its less likely to fail or cause an issue when overclocking CPU's to extreme speeds with say Liquid Nitrogen.

srry double post was an error

ok one last question

what would you advise

put the stock cooler on or put the h100i.

the thing is if i put the h100i on to test the mobo then when i put the mobo in the case i l have to take it off which means removing tim and reapplying.

or

i can use the stock to test the mobo and then when i get all my final components then il take the stock out and remove tim and then i can put thr h100i cooler on without putting in tim on .

The CPU will only fit one way in the socket, it has notches on the side and stuff to get the orientation right.

When you close the socket back up expect to hear a lovely loud crunching sound!

When you power up the Asus ROG splash screen should be displayed and then as you have no drives or a windows installation connected to the board it will stop and wait for you to enter the BIOS by usually pressing the DELETE key.

Press the power button on the board again to power off or hold it down for 3+ seconds.

Yehhhhh it works

Had to put my gpu in cz the back o/I didnt have vga or dvi had hdmi n display port.
Any way when i booted it up 4 the first time it give me msg.

Warning
The current bios settings do not fully support the boot device. Press F1 to enter the bios setup.

Go to the advanced >boot> CSM compatibility support module setting to enble the boot drive.

Also on the mobo itself it shows a2 code in the manual book it states the code IDE detect going to find out wat this is.

Other then tht i can go into the bios.
