I know engine size, driving style, road conditions etc play quite a large factor. So what car do you do drive and how much do you think it would cost you?

Fuel type will be petrol.

another rather odd question by ibot... :/

fiesta 1.25 if i drive keeping under 4000rpm (70mph is 4000rpm) i can get roughly 280 per tank (45litres)

so by my workings out i need 88litres which is £93 (1.06p for 95 down here)

saying that 280miles from a tank isnt totally true..... its untill the petrol light goes on....

Surely that's awful economy from such a small car? It only costs 10p per mile in most small cars. You sure the 280 per tank is actually the full 45 litres? I expect thats probably about 30 litres :)

Obviously it depends a little on hills, speed, traffic, load etc but on a total motorway run in perfect conditions i'd expect between 500 and 550 miles out of my 54 litre tank of deisel.

a small petrol car should manage 400 out of a 45 litre tank quite easily under similar conditions.

completely useless answer but i could just about scrape that mileage on a tank in my diesel- £45ish.

as for petrol, it depends... my 205 1.0l used to be just as good on the juice but didnt have the tank range.

i bet you'd be looking at between £60-100 though depending on car.

I get about 30 miles per gallon.

So, given that fuel is £1.11 per litre round my way (V-Power :() it'll be 70 litres of fuel, which will be ~£78.
