£5 p/h ? It's not minimum but it's ok wage when you are 16 i guess.

What are the current rates of the national minimum wage?

There are three levels of minimum wage, and the rates from 1st October 2007 are:

* £5.52 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older
* A development rate of £4.60 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive
* £3.40 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age.

Even if I was 16 you wouldnt see me working for £3.40 to do someones garden work. £5p/h sounds better. Or just a lump sum per day may sound more appealing.

I was doing a 40 hour week aswell! on top of school lol. They took advantage

I think it's about £5 an hour average btw.

I was on £5 for skilled technical work at that time. I'd say £4 would be good money, £5 would be great.

Had been doing PC tech support for a while by then. Hardly "skilled" in the professional sense I know, but fair amount of tech and shop knowledge by then.

I was getting £300 a week when I was 16, was absolute heaven, granted I was on emergency tax code so was taking home just over £200 but still then I couldnt spend it all. Then when I left and got a new job at 18 I had a tax rebate of just under £1200. I was very lucky indeed.

Agreed.

(9 years ago when I was 16 I was earning £1.80 an hour. Seriously underpaid!)

I reckon £6p/h is pretty reasonable, I'm in a supermarket at the moment and we pay 16yr olds at £5.62p/h.

I am not a sho....I..I...I mean photographer

Erm, building & repairing pc's, troubleshooting, basic networking, the whole office package ( which you need to know for administration and other rubbish, with the whole package I mean everything including Access etc ), visual basic, HTML, Paint shop pro ( couldn't get into photo shop oddly), Gmax/ Lightwave 3d, python code, overclocking & tweaking, very basic cracking like cryptanalysis attacks and brute force on LN hashes and some other hashes, sniffing, basic security upgrades, riding a scooter ( go pizza boy ).

But no seriously, my mum has to learn stuff for her admin course now I knew how to do when I was 12 and she seems to have trouble with it...
