Just reinstalled stalker and i've enabled the 'Enhanced Full Dynamic Lighting' (didn't even know it was there until now) and i'm wondering which SSAO mode to use.

I'm not sure what HDAO and HBAO is, i've tried toying with them both and so far i've seen no picture quality improvement at all. I've also installed the Atmosfear mod, could that be the problem?

Also, which one of the two is best to use for picture quality.

Thanks.

HDAO = High Definition Ambient Occlusion
HBAO = Horizon Based Ambient Occlusion

Both modes basically enable object self shadowing, but in slightly different ways.

Theres very little difference between the 2 in stalker and bc2 atleast. AFAIK HDAO is just AMD's own version of Ambient Occlusion.

For the STALKER series at least :
HDAO = ATI cards
HBAO = NVidia cards

You can run the 'wrong' one but performance is worse & there may be artifacts.
