Upcoming 890FX Motherboards - Due April 26th

Hmm looking very interesting, I've always had MSI boards but I like the look of the Gigabyte one. Very interested to see how they perform with the X6 chips...

Biostar have changed their design for the 890FX, originally was this:

Seen below, the upcoming board features 6 phase PWM and supports Athlon II or Phenom II CPUs with a TDP of up to 140W, and has a black PCB, a relatively beefy cooling system, four DDR3-1800 memory slots, the BIO-unlocKING technology for unlocking processor cores, and four PCI-Express x16 slots for CrossFireX setups.

The TA890FXE includes one eSATA and five SATA 6.0 Gbps ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 7.1 channel audio, a FireWire connector, a debug LED, and nothing but solid capacitors.

i wonder if that fans on the asrocks VRMs is there because they make a lot of heat/the heatsink aint suffiecient, or if its a feeble attempt at making it look more OC friendly.

either way, i dont like it...

According to this no but this is for the Formula, but this might not be final retail.

Thanks for that, a shame if it doesnt come with it, was quite a nice feature, it could still come with it tho. I have looked so many places and cant find much info on them.

Ill prob get the higher level one somepoint i was going to do a ddr2 ram upgrade but ram is so expensive...i decided for a new mobo and ddr3 ram, also wanted usb 3.0 to future proof it a lil

yea i was glad when we got away from fans cooling the northbridge, they always used the cheapest nasty crap fans that would usually die within 6 months or rattle
