A new King-of-the-hill heat exchanger for this class.

XSPC AX120 Single Fan Radiator (Black) @ 54.98 inc VAT

The AX is a new premium radiator from XSPC. The AX series combines a high performance copper/brass radiator core with a compact and beautifully finished aluminium enclosure.

The AX's core is a high performance evolution of the popular EX radiator series. The core includes advances from the EX series like welded seam tubes and splitter fins, but with a thicker core (21mm vs 16mm) and increased surface area.

The radiator core is fitted inside of a 3mm thick, extruded and machined aluminium shell. The screw holes are precision cut by CNC which eliminates misaligned screw holes and gives 3mm of screw thread. The aluminium shell also provides a perfectly flat surface to mount the fans against, which eliminates air gaps and any need for a gasket.

All of this comes together to make what we believe is the best PC radiator on the market.

- 3mm Thick Aluminium Frame (No aluminium in the flow path)
- Copper and Brass Core
- Matt Black Painted Core
- Black Chrome Plated G1/4" Ports

I might be a complete mong here - but what's the point in having them in a frame?

I think it's for cosmetics only, i can't see any performance gain from it apart from maybe giving the rads abit more rigidity?

gives them rigidity yes, but it allows for a much better finish.

denting a watercooling rad is surprisingly easy and this design is a much better idea for durability. also, they are much better for cleaning

corsair might file a lawsuit also the silver looks more like white to me! frame seems a bit pointless, since when do rad's need more rigidity and your not going to see it once fans are on.

The other thing about it not needing a fan gasket, I always thought the gasket's primary job was to dampen fan noise by having a soft layer between the fan and the rad, rather than solely acting as a seal. For me, if they are going to do anything with a rads design, they should try and make them perform better rather than look better. I'm sure some people will buy them though of course.

rads don't need that much rigidity but the frame is there to add strength. it also acts as a fan shroud. you would need it obviously as it is the only way to attach fans to it.

they are ultra high end though and the price difference between this AX series and the Airplex is humongous.
