Hi all,

I'm not the greatest overclocker but the difference I can see between my old Phenom II 550 (unlocked to 3 cores at 3.5ghz) and my new FX6300 running at 4.4ghz is amazing!

Loaded up ghost recon future soldier and couldn't believe how smooth it was!

Idles at 29 and load 51 (according to ASUS PC Probe)

Would like to see how far it could go but don't know what's a safe vcore to be increasing it to? It's at 1.42 at the minute.

On the older 6100 and 6200 series up to 1.5v is safe with decent cooling. I run an FX-4170 at 4.8Ghz with 1.45vCore and 24x Multiplier. Its Prime95 stable (only just as vCore is a tad low)

Put it up to 4.6Ghz with 1.475vCore, run Prime95 to check you are happy with Temps, if it has no errors you have 2 choices.

1- Bump Multiplier up again to 4.7Ghz.
2- Reduce vCore to get 4.6Ghz cooler while still stable.

Whichever you pick run Prime95 for at least 20 mins for Temperatures to make sure it wont overheat, then wait until you have a movie to watch on TV and go for a 2 hour test while checking every 10 mins. If happy after 2 hours then it should be fine to leave overnight testing.

Also turn Turbo Off in bios, and any (eco) power control. Cool & Quiet is optional, I leave it on allowing my CPU to drop to 1.4Ghz when not in use, but It can mess with Overclocks and cause lockups as reported by some other users in other threads. Seems fine for me though.

TL;DR Nice overclock, push for more!

They are impressive chips. I've got my 8320 up to 4.65Ghz stable and it absolutely eats up any task I throw at it. The Handbrake encoding speed is ridiculous and it's handling any game I try in 1080p at Ultra settings (with a 2Gb 7850) with ease. I might see if I can get 4.7-4.8Ghz out of it but right now this is a 24/7 clock for me and I'm more than satisfied.
