hey guys,

some of you might be aware of my trouble with my setup...I am currently blaming my FX 8350 for this..could it be my RAM speeds in the settings?

could someone please tell me how to check the speeds and then if adjusting could help my gaming woes???

My RAM is 2x8gb Hyper X RAM

thanks, RTJ

Not sure what issues you are having but I don't think RAM speeds could hold back a 8350? What issues are you having maybe the motherboard VRM's are overheating?

Could be vrm throttling, what mobo do you have?

But pretty sure from the games you quoted its because your running amd, looking at single core performance.
AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Up to 4.2 GHz, Single Thread Rating 1504
Intel Core i5-4690K @ 3.50GHz, Single Thread Rating 2232

So for poorly threaded games a slower Intel cpu is 50% faster.

Hey guys,

my motherboard is a :

Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 AMD AM3+ mATX Motherboard

could that be the problem possibly? maybe a motherboard around 80-120 pounds, would that help my system?

you can easily check for vrm throttling
download amd overdrive
run the stress test
monitor cpu frequency (there a tab for it in the app)
cpu will start off in the 4's when vrm's overheat the core speed will suddenly drop own to 1

not the best board but, stop throwing good money after bad, bite the bullet and get an intel based system

Yeah, that makes sense, I'm sure this will hold me over till 2-3 months time...

Or wait a little bit longer and see if Zen lives up to the hype. Either way, I wouldn't spend any more money on your existing system (e.g. for a new board)
