It's easier to bend however I'm not sure I would say stronger, it's not as brittle though :)

PTEG is not brittle in the slightest and its very strong - which is why its used for things like bus shelters/trolley shelters outside your local shop. Have a look at this YouTube you'll see Jayztwocents hitting the crap out of it with a hammer and it doesnt disintegrate at all (just squashes flat).

The larger diameter tube is incredibly strong vs. Acrylic - yo're talking about a 2mm thick tube which doesnt shatter, very advantageous over acrylic. I'd be surprised if you were able to easily bend and break the cooled hardened tube by hand in 16mm.

just a question on the collars for the hardline monsoon fittings

do you have to put the rubber seal inside the collar before gluing as well as on the barb?

none of the videos I watched did this
