Corsair TX 650w still good?

I'm currently building a new PC, and as I have this PSU in my old PC, I'm wondering if it would be ok to reuse? It would save me a bit of money that I could put towards a better GPU or something.

I first bought it in like 2009, and it's still going strong.

unless your new PC is a drastically different type of build* to your current one I don't see it being an issue


*ie if you go dual high end Graphics card instead of a single card,

I'm still running a 520w Corsair from like 2006 with a 6700k and a 980ti.

Only reason for me to change will be if it pops or I want to go SLI. So no time soon.

I'll just use it then. It's only going to be a Z97 board, pentium g3258, 8gb ddr3, 1x ssd 1x hdd, gtx 670 and then just cpu cooler + fans and maybe an led strip.

if its the old seasonic made unit then its top quality.
if its the newer CWT version then its not quite quality haha

As above, there were like 100000 variants of the TX, depends which one you have

how can we know which one is which? Is there a batch code that tells us the information?

I purchased it in 2009 for like £80 or thereabouts. It's a non modular version, and the Corsair sticker is Yellow.

That is the Seasonic built unit so you should be fine.
