So I currently have a GTX EVGA 770 and now have around £300 budget to spend on a new GPU.

My preferred GPU is a NVIDIA and EVGA/Asus.

I can maybe push slightly more on the GPU price if the performance gains are worth it with an additional £50 at most.

Thanks in advance all :)

get a 980Ti or 1070 as mentioned.

980Ti is cheaper but takes more power to run (600W PSU minimum)
1070 is more expensive but will have better driver support, probably be better in newer games, and takes less power to run (500W PSU minimum)

(check you got enough room in ur case as they are pretty long)

EVGA/ASUS tax is quite high so you may have to settle with a different brand, but it's miles worth it over getting a 970/980/1060.

What's the rest of your build though? Obvious recommendation would be a 980ti.

I will be upgrading my overall rig in the near future, It is fairly old tbh but is the following

Intel i5 2500k (Overclocked to 4.4Ghz) 16GB Ram (1600MHz), Base OS 120GB SSD, Secondary Game/Program SSD 480GB.

I realise that the rest of my machine will possibly be the bottle neck after a upgrade.

I never realised how cheap the 1070 was, yeah I completely agree with you easyrider the 1070 would be the right option and it looked like that little bit extra price over the 980ti is worth it.

This will at least then future proof me some what for a good few years.

I am running a 2500k at 4.4 Ghz with a 1070. There is no bottleneck. Very few games take the CPU to even 80% IMHO. I know ARMA3 and Planetside can but they are the exception.

Don't forget about GTA V that brings this cpu to its knees.
In the city I was getting almost constantly +95% cpu usage and it was dropping below 60fps all the time running at 4.8Ghz.
Also Crysis 3 in some places was dropping well below 60fps with [email protected].
All those slowdowns are now gone with [email protected]
