Hello all, looking for some help please. I'm currently building my first PC in about 15 years. My monitor just arrived from Amazon, my PC isn't ready yet so I connected it via HDMI to my 5 year old laptop which can only seemingly go up to 1080p and isn't fully testing out the resolution - but I can see a thick "line" down the left side. It's maybe 10 pixels where they are out of sync with the rest of the picture.

I've enclosed some videos, now back when I last bought a monitor you would actually use monitor setting and line up your display. Something tells me I shouldn't need to do that with this monitor, and I don't see any option to.

Is this something to do with my laptop not supporting the resolution, HDMI, or is a faulty panel?

Recorded on my phone so sorry for poor quality.

TIA for your help guys, I do have a feeling it's faulty but would love to hear your thoughts.

I am looking to get one of these monitors soon and have been reading posts on it.
There is a firmware update for this problem, as mentioned here https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?87380-Firmware-Update-for-ROG-SWIFT-PG279Q
unfortunately is seem you have to send your monitor away to have it done.
Overclockers are out of stock at the moment, so I hope the new stock has had the firmware update when they arrive, perhaps someone can confirm this

Oh really. It looked like a problem with the panel I'd have never have guessed firmware.

Shame as it looked great otherwise. There was a lot of ips glow in the corners on a dark screen when you looked straight at the centre, but when you looked at the corner it went so I think it was normal for ips.

Yup as confirmed by FlipFlop it's a firmware issue.
I have is on my Acer XB271HU which sues the same panel.
A simple fix is to turn the monitor off and on.
It doesn't bother me enough to have the hassle of packing it and sending it away

I had a good play around but couldn't get it to go, it got collected this morning. Shame as everything else seemed spot on. At full price that thing is £900 so I suppose people expect perfection which is hard to come by.
