Blackberry No More

Blackberry to stop making phones.

Sad news but inevitable really.

I remember being issued with a Blackberry about 12-13 years ago and thinking instant access to my email was a great thing....

This is the first one I had :

My brother has the Priv and loves it, although it was more expensive than it was worth. My dad had a Torch a few years ago and while it did the job, the lack of apps made him move away.

If they released Android phones a few years earlier with the portrait keyboard then I would have been tempted, BB10 took the right direction but I feel it came a little too late.

They already announced a couple of new devices but they're just rebrands with Blackberry's Android UI on top. Will really miss their hardware.

The only surprising thing about this is how long it took them to accept this was going to be the case.

Has been coming for 3 - 4 years at least (used to work for Barclays, who had 10's of thousands of BB's to start with, but was falling massively each year when much better products came on the market)

While sad this shouldnt be a surprise. We got rid of all our blackberry a couple of years back and went straight to iOS.

They started the Push tech and then didn't go anywhere else! A tech company needs to keep moving with the times.

Yep, my last Blackberry was about 10 years ago. I had it as a secondary device for email alongside my main phone. Once push email became solid on Android and iOS I had no need for a Blackberry.

RIP BB i still want a priv
