Would Astro A50 headset benefit from a sound card?

Apologies if this is a noob question but it has to be done.

I have an Astro A50 wireless headset (1st gen I think) and was wondering if a sound card would be a great addition to my build?

I know the headset supports 5.1 surround sound but I highly doubt my on board sound does - probably couldn't tell a difference as sound quality is amazing either way.

Did you get it without a mixamp??

Well the A50's do not have a Mixamp. They come with a wireless receiver which plugs in to my Mobo via optical cable.

I'm assuming I would need a card with SPDIF IN/OUT if I was to get one?

which would make little to no difference as the wireless receiver is already a "soundcard" and it does all the post processing for you (virtualisation etc)

If the PC is passing digital via spdif it's likely a soundcard would add nothing to the Astro reciever.
