Hdd not shown in bios

Hey guys,

I have had to return a faulty ssd so i am going back to my hdd for the time being. I have taken my hdd from my old machine (still has windows 7 oem installed) put it in my new build, but the hdd wont spin and wont get recognized within bios? Bios shows the sata slot as being empty, with only the dvd drive being visible. The hdd is a seagate baraccuda 2tb, mobo is Asus Z170-k. I have tried everything i can think of, replaced cables, changed sata slots and looked throught bios to see if it has somehow been turned off?

Any help would be awesome!

Silly ask but did you connect the power cable?

Obvious checks
sata plugged in to the motherboard and the hard drive...
power cable

Then it's down to checking with another cable etc

Yeah, tried them all. With all new cables too

in bios, it shows the sata port (where the HDD is) as empty.

Does it make a noise when you power the system on ?

Nope, almost as if there is no power getting to it... I tried different power sources but still nothing.

Maybe the drive is dead ?

Maybe warm it up on a radiator, could have seized. daft idea but has worked for other people.

Doesnt show up, only the dvd drive is listed

Sounds like a dead drive. Got another PC to test it in just in case?
