1333hz holding me back?

Hi guys, I currently have a fx8350 and a r9 290 with 8gb of 1333hz ram, I am getting huge frame drops in a lot of newer games, is my slow ram to blame?

I have a fx8350 clocked to 4.5 along with a r9 290, I mostly play Rust, battlefield4 (soon to be 1) and Miscreated, I have large FPS drops from from 60fos down to 10/15fps I'm all games that I have, not just these (though they are my most played) I game at 1080p

I doubt the RAM is the issue personally. Have you tried bumping it up to 1600mhz?

no ram speed is not causing that, video card hitting thermal limit maybe?

It's not the GPU temps I barely hit 65 as I have an aggressive fan profile, for some reason it has actually stopped on every game all of a sudden other than BF4 and BFH and Sw:BF and Rust. Rust I'm putting down to early access and AMD hardware. But the others I'm at a loss with
