I'm upgrading from an ATI 7850, I won't be using anything higher than 1920 x 1080 anytime soon. I've been trying to decide between these 2 cards for 2 weeks now but I'm in a state of deadlock, possibly through paralysis of analysis.

Step 1: Do you plan to get a GSync or FreeSync monitor any time soon? (Sounds like the answer for you is no.)

Step 2: Note down the games you play most often (or plan to buy and play) and see which of the two cards (well four cards really) has better performance overall.

Step 3: Look at the costs and see if the extra performance of the better card(s) is worth the extra price.

480 wise I'm very happy with my XFX 480 GTR Black edition, the extra 2GB of ram, dual card support, very good DX12 performance, fan swap in seconds and tool-less are some reasons why in my case.

It's very quiet since most times the fans don't even turn on, since most games are in 50s(fans turn on at 60c).

Other brands like MSI, Asus, Sapphire, HIS are also good choices 480 wise.

Ok, thanks guys, seems to be a fair amount of love for the RX480, I'm going to order one of those today. I take it the 8gb XFX GTR is the one to get?
