Hi All,

So a quick question. I have just brought a 1080 to replace my GTX960. I am using the Nvidia drivers, will I need to remove-install the drivers, or if I just change the cards will the software just use the 1080 driver?

Just looking for a quick fix, rather than having to mess about! :D If I have to remove etc then no probs, just wondered (while I wait) if this could safe time installing and leave more time gaming lol

If Windows 10, make sure you have the latest Windows nVidia updates otherwise it will not install the driver. I had my windows 10 updates disabled and it caught me out.

What Catatonia said. That's the most important. Busted my hump trying to install the Nvidia drivers when my Windows updates (lack of) were the problem.

But yes, should work just fine plug and play. I'd probably, just for giggles, uninstall and then reinstall the latest drivers.

Cheers guys. Pulled out the 960, put in the 1080 and all was good once win10 saw the change and got the drivers working :) Totally automatic and worked great!

Now I just need to figure out this SMP for my 3 monitors. All I have been able to find out is the marketing BS about it, nothing about how to get it working, if it is driver or game dependant etc. I'll keep on looking!

3D Mark:

Cloud Gate
1080 - 20,210
960 - 17,347
16% improvement - probably CPU bottlenecking?

Sky Diver
1080 - 26,717
960 - 18,222
46% improvement

Fire Strike
1080 - 14,364
960 - 6,431
123% improvement

Fire Strike Ultra
1080 - 4,998
960 - 1,772
182% improvement

API Overhead
1080
Code:
DX11 ST: 1,434,580
DX11 MT: 2,170,043
DX12 : 13,770,135

Bearing in mind I am using a reasonably old CPU (i5 2550K Sandy Bridge - see signature). Although this is in my Fractal Design r4 case so should reflect the thermal properties better then an open case. I have a 140mm fan blowing in at the front of the case and another blowing out the case in the top.

-update-
Added 960 results. Missing API overhead as 3D Mark crashed and I need to restart
Can't get API Overhead to work with 960. 3D Mark locks up on returning from running the tests
