I'm struggling to get a score over 2650 on my 1080 and 2600k @ 4.5, am I now cpu bound at 1080? With my ageing system or am I missing something?

what clocks is your 1080 at? if you're pegged at 99% gpu usage then no you're limited somewhere else though there's a few moments my 980 Ti overclocked goes to around 97% usage not a massive difference but that's with a 4790k at 4.7ghz and a card slower than yours so you could actually benefit from a faster cpu as well as PCIe 3.0 which sandy bridge doesn't offer. How do your games play though? fine? then leave it not working upgrading just for a higher position on a leaderboard

Boosts to 1985, I'll have to check usage tomorrow when I get some free time to play around. I bought it to power my rift and I can see the improvement massively so I'm happy with it so far.

There you go then... I got the memory up to 3000MHz @ 16-16-16-36-1T and that has bumped the score a bit.
Pretty impressive for a budget 2133 kit I bought only for volume rather than speed.
Still... think I should be able to improve things a little bit more when the new kit arrives next week
Can we please scrap this silly cobbles rule? I missed the cobbles again because I was doing things on phone and had to wait for the whole thing to cycle through to get screenshot on previous 5074 score... very annoying when it's clear there's no issue with the benchmark if you let it run a bit longer.

The screenshot over the cobbles is important as people use it to check the Tessellation.
