Router/Switch in confined space?

Hi all, as I now need a switch due to running out of ethernet ports on my router, my floor has become a bit of a spaghetti junction which im eager to make tidier. I have a spare shelf/compartment in my wardrobe that I was thinking of putting my network equipment into but i'm wondering how well do routers (The RT-AC68U in my case) and switches (NETGEAR GS108T-200UKS) handle that kind of confined space IF I cut a hole out of the back of the wardrobe for ventilation?

I know they will get hotter than if they was in the open air, but do people tend to do this due to it looking tidier? or am I better off thinking of another idea? if so, does anyone have any clever ways they hide all their ethernet cables and everything else? :) thank you

I wouldn't be too worried about the switch.

The router is much more likely to cook. If your router is like my RT-N66U you can monitor the temperature via the GUI. If you can then try it in a similar sized space and see if it gets stupidly hot compared to free air.
