Hi all.

So i have been after a new gaming laptop for awhile but have been stuck on what to buy with the money i had. Well today i have made a choice and ordered one. I have made several changes to this custom laptop but in the end im happy with it and this is the spec i have gone with;

CPU: i7 Quad Core Processor i7-6700k (4.0GHz, 8MB Cache, 4 cores, 8 threads)
RAM: 16GB HyperX IMPACT (2133MHz, 2x8GB)
GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 (6.0GB GDDR5, Direct X 12, G-Sync)
HDD1: 750GB WD Black 2.5" (7200rpm, 16mb cache)
HDD2: 750GB WD Black 2.5" (7200rpm, 16mb cache)
M.2 SSD: 250GB Crucial MX200 2280 SSD (555MB read | 500MB write)
Screen: 15.6" Matte Full HD IPS LED Widescreen 1920x1080 with G-Sync
Card Reader: 6 in 1
Optical Drive: None
Audio: Sound Blaster X-Fi MB5
Battery: 8 Cell Lithium Ion (82WH)

so what do you all think? it cost me £1,655.00 do you think its good value for money?

I cant wait till it arrives im looking forwared to taking my favorite most graphic demanding games with me when i go on long trips or on holiday.

I would have spent it on a desktop, would have got much better for the money. For that price a 1060 is pretty poor tbh but laptop prices are ridiculous. The 1060 will run 1080p no problem though so you will be fine for gaming on that. For that much money I would have wanted a high end card, I can never understand why laptop prices are so high. There's a good write up here about that gpu http://www.technewstoday.com/30780-is-gtx-1060-the-new-midrange-king/
For gaming at 1080p and for everything else that will be a great laptop, enjoy.

thank you i will go give that gpu article a read. As for why i did not spend the money on a desktop is simple i have a very powerful 4K gaming desktop already.

Plays all the latest games maxed out in 4K with between 45-60 fps depending on the game. So i wanted the laptop to game when im away from home.

Plus my friends can use it if they come to visit and we can play games in the same room me on my desktop and friends on the laptop :) makes playing team based games much easier :)

Only thing I would consider changing would be the 2 x 750GB Hard Drives to 1 x 2TB hard drive if possible. Apart from that looks pretty good for the purpose I think.

i was originally planning that, but the 2tb were much slower they had a rpm of 5400 but these 750gb are 7200 rpm.

why would have gone for a slower cpu and slower hard disk drives? also a lessor battery?

The HDDs were the only options available when I checked. The CPU is overclockerable and happy to run at 4Ghz, but is designed for laptops so lower wattage and therefore cooler. The battery is really the sticking point, but a smaller battery for much better graphics is worth it.

Performance in gaming it would eat your initial spec. And I'll guess the battery will last about 20 minutes less.

ye im not planning on overclockig so i would rather have the faster default speed, and as for the hard drives thats fair i only got the hard drives i end up with because at the time they were out of stock of the ones i wanted. I would have liked the 1070 but it was out of my budget range.
