I currently have a Cooler Master Full ATX tower, X99 Sabertooth board, 5820K CPU, Cooler Master Nepton 240M, 980ti Windforce card.

Now I want to go ITX
1) for more mobility when moving my VR setup
2) for when I move my pc into the lounge, my wife would rather not have a monster PC. Just as I am also looking to sell my AKRacing XPro chair for the same reason..

Case
Lian Li O5 SX
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lian-li-pc-o5sx-mini-itx-chassis-black-ca-714-ll.html

Motherboard
There aren't many ITX X99 boards, possibly only the ASRock one which I am not stoked about.. so think I might sell my X99 stuff and go for...

Maximus VIII Impact Intel Z170

CPU
I7-6700K
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/inte...ocket-lga1151-processor-retail-cp-581-in.html

PSU
SF Series 600W 80 Plus Gold Modular SFX
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...sfx-power-supply-cp-9020105-uk-ca-218-cs.html

GPU
Huge temptation to buy a 1080 and sell my 980ti... but oh..should I...

Also over concerns about fitting..

Despite the relatively limited amount of space inside the PC-O5S, Lian Li has arranged things such that you can install a full length 12.5-inch graphics card, provided you remove the drive tower that accommodates three 3.5-inch hard drives. You don’t really need those drives as there are two 2.5-inch SSD mounts on the rear of the motherboard tray.

Memory
My current PC has two lots of Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz
So use 16gb in the new system from this I guess

does that seem all ok?

What's wrong with the Asrock X99-ITX? It's a phenomenal board.

It may be just that, it's probably a combination of brand snobbery and wanting to spend money - neither of which are particularly good reasons :)

Well I've ordered most of the parts.. going to order 1080 once i determine how i will cool it..

I came across this and now i thinking of making my first custom watercooling loop.

I have the middle brother of that Lian Li series (Matx version, see build log link in signature, WIP).

I will not consider it mobile, and don't recommend lugging it around on a regular basis, tampered glass is heavy and fragile. No handles and brushed aluminium is finger print magnet. It's more of a case that once built, it gets left alone to admire.

Also air flow (with slow quiet fans) is absolutely horrible, hence I had to watercool, and I would only consider blower fan GPU if you are air cooling. Might be better with itx version.

This graphics card and then a AIO CPU water cooler with 240 rad be ok?

Oh i just found out what a blower card actually is :D not the kind i linked...

i'm quite happy to try a watercooled loop.

I tried a MSI 970 Gaming, which has a very similar cooler, fans ramp up to about ~70% and temperature reaches 85 degrees, no go for me.

It's just bathing in it's own hot air down there, as there's no extracting fan. This makes more sense: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pali...dr5x-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-036-pl.html

In the PC-O6S, noise of a reference blower GPU and an aftermarket GPU are comparable at the same temps.

In the end of the day, the case compromises a lot to look pretty. If you're willing to put effort and money on watercooling, then it is a fine case. Otherwise, there are much better options for a SFF rig.

This is my favourite ITX case, better looking than the lian li, much more practical and £60 on ebay almost 60% less in costs.

The In-Win 901

Keep an eye out for my build log coming soon then, you might like it ;)

Although I will say that the 901 is just as impractical for a mobile build as the Lian Li - again, it's brushed aluminium with tempered glass so a magnet for muck and fragile, and the glass makes it heavy.

The aluminium especially is really soft - I have so many scratches just from measuring up the case it's unreal, I dread to think what it'd be like if I started lugging the thing around.

If you want a case for an actual portable SFF, I strongly recommend the Silverstone Sugo SG05, Sugo SG13 or Temjin TJ09. Tiny cases that case fit good kit and small enough to throw in a bag.

I modded my SG05 to fit 10" graphics cards, but you can't tell, and still got an original GTX Titan, H60 AIO cooler and 2 laptop drives in it. Smaller than a shoebox.

loads of room for large GPU, though a blower card would be preferable - will get GTX 1080 when I sold some stuff

Have fit a nepton 240m in the top

i'll look out for it as I need to replace a stock intel CPU cooler

looks very nice,

i like how thin the case is because of the layout with the gpu.

i wouldnt mind downsizing my rig to MITX at some point. i dont need anything big.

Well it's up and running now, cables are a bit of a mess at the moment.. so is the rest of my study with computer bits..

I intend to replace the 980ti with MSI 1080 GTX graphics card (with RGB leds), and I need to get some dual-channel ram - just using an 8gb stick at the mo from my old X99 quad-channel system.

overclocking cpu to 4.7ghz currently

That looks great m8.

Looking at the itx version, you can probably get away with using an aftermarket cooler for the GPU. How are your current temps for the 980ti?

That gigabyte card is a perfect match aesthetically. Perfect length so it sits in the middle, shame to switch it out. The founders edition (blower) cooler is shorter and will not look as good imho.
