It's well documented that the front grille in these cases cause a fairly loud whining sort of sound, even if you're using silent fans. I've seen a few mods where people have cut the front panel out of the case to solve the issue and while that's probably a more complete solution, not everyone has the tools for such a job. So I thought I'd share my simple solution.

I've just cut the supports out of the rim of one of the stock 200mm case fans and taped it to the front of the fan I'm replacing it with. First of all looping between both fans at each quarter around their housing and then along the join to create a seal between the two.

Screw that onto the case and the couple of centimetres created by the additional frame completely eliminates the turbulence noise created by the grille.
