Cheers, I plan on buying 2 of 2x4GB kits, I don't think my board supports 8GB sticks since the max it will take over 6 slots is 24GB.

Which would be better for performance?
Triple channel 3x4GB for 12GB (and keep 1 stick as spare) or
4x4GB for 16GB ignoring triple channel

Some boards (mine included) run a pseudo triple channel with 4 sticks in the correct slots.

I'm running 4x4GB, it's supposed to be slower, but I can't tell the difference.
Running cinebench gave me the same score before and after.

I don't think my Asus P6T supports 8GB sticks unfortunately so I'm playing it safe with 4GB modules. I'm probably going to stick with 12GB triple channel as well until my next build
