Hi guys as the title suggests, I am looking to buy a new laptop. Should be in the range of 800 pounds, more or less. What I plan to do with it is basically gaming, a bit of streaming and want to start programming. Please any suggestions are welcomed as I am currently a bit lost.

Thanks NeoVo joined that forum thread, looks really good, but I think I will have to go to the next price bracket, just because the hardware in that machine is a bit old, I am not saying is bad or anything or discrediting the thread, just that I don't think I can get something that fits my needs for that price range

more like the 1000-1200 range

Hi Colossus20,

Check the URL below, plenty of GIGABYTE options for your price range, all including the latest Intel Skylake CPU, NVidia GTX 960m, 965m, or 970m GPU and the latest form factors as well: DDR4 memory, M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD, HDMI 2.0, and USB 3.1 Type-C.

Hope this helps, let me know if I can be of any more assistance or if you have questions.

I suppose you are not able to advise if its better to wait to get a laptop after they release the newer generation of graphics cards? ie. 1060M etc?

Currently your best option with Nvidia as far as mobile GPU go is the 980m, it is a bit above your price range you listed. Once the new GPU is released all the models and GPUs will scale in price based on performance and market. I guess it all depends how long you're wanting to wait to be honest with you.

Currently NVidia hasn't officially announced when their new mobile GPU will be released. They might have some news during Computex this year however.

Hope this helps. Let us know if we can be of more assistance.

HI there Colossus

Have a look at this bad boy at £889.

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...gtx-960m-16gb-ddr4-1tb-7200rpm-lt-239-ms.html

Gives you a bit of room if you want to add in SSD. Also get 12 months Xsplit gamecaster with it for streaming.

For a slightly higher price (although Gibbo has the spec wrong)
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...tx960m-2gb-gddr5-gaming-laptop-lt-243-ms.html

This has 8gb DDR IV plus 128Gb NVMe SSD

Also included is MSI Gaming rucksack, keychain and some other bits n bobbs

^^ Gigabyte and MSI reps above. Those links are good ones, thanks. I am in the market too for a similarly spec'd laptop and have been looking at both of your ranges. I just wish you could offer slightly better graphics for the money. The 960m just isn't quite good enough really, but I am not willing to pay over a grand for a laptop.

I just hope that when the 1060m is released that it gives a good performance boost over the 960m AND we see it in laptops around the £800 price point. That's what I'm waiting for.

Hi guys thanks for the suggestions I think I am going to go a bit higher than what the post says (as in price range), I am looking now to spend round 1.2k which I have seen is quite a sweet spot for most of the 970M laptops.
Any good suggestions for this price range? I have seen this one:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...r4-128gb-m.2-ssd-1tb-hdd-win10-lt-074-gi.html

suggested by a rep in this thread, any chance anyone got any better suggestions or previous experience with other laptops in a similar price range?
