Hi guys,

So wasn't sure to go with a 5930K or 5820K, would have gone 6xxxX but with the issue on Win7 with Skylake (regardless of some USB workaround fix ?!?) - I cba. Even though it looks like it would be cheaper.

Anyway, thoughts etc. on a mobo that could accomodate?

Stulid is there any reason why you would pick the Gigabyte GA-X99-Designare board over the Rampage V Extreme USB 3.1 Intel X99 ?
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ket-2011-ddr4-eatx-motherboard-mb-640-as.html

As am looking at upgrading to a x99 setup and I been eyeing up this asus motherboard..(Partly due to I like the extra OC/fan Panel thing you get with it)

Edit: I just noticed that the asus one is a E-ATX board..

The RAMPAGE is from the first bunch of X99, Wasnt even as good an overclocker as the SOC Champion which is roughly half its price.

StriX, Edition 10 are more current releases and thus have maybe some newer stuff such as typeC USB I think.

m.2 could also be limited, some early ones didnt do 32GB/S bandwidth (not sure if the Rampage does as ASUS site doesnt say)

The X99 Designare does 3 or 4way SLI even with a 5820K or 6800K which has just 28lanes (the others are all 40lane chips), it does this because it has PLX to double the number of lanes coming from the CPU.

It also does something with Displayport where you can feed a signal into it from a GFX card, it then sends it back out mixed with Thunderbolt3.0 via USB typeC and into a big box full of connectors (not released yet) that has all sort of connectors, see 4min 25sec - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzDwcJbr_eU&list=PLgYEU1QvJOL9S4gfAxPNc5NczD-oYC7tP&index=12

Would the strix fir the bill?
