Windows 10 Upgrade - Accounts Question

I have a Surface 4 Pro which I set up with a MS account. This account has got Office 365 tied to it.

I have just upgraded my old desktop to Windows 10 from Windows 7 as well, having liked it on the Surface.

The desktop currently has a local account only.

If I sign in to the desktop with the MS account, will it cause a mess or will I be able to tell it to sync virtually nothing but get access to my Office 365 and OneDrive account?

I'm wary of it trying to 'sync' things and just causing a catastrophe of crap being sent to the Surface or stuff being deleted from the desktop.

Other than Office and a few useful documents, I don't really want them particularly synchronised.

Am I safe to log in with the MS account? :p

Fine, as long as you go to settings > accounts > sync your settings
And either turn it off completely or just certain parts.
