The Z77 doesn't have enough PCI-E lanes for x16/x16 so you'll end up with x8/x8. I think even with a 3770k you'd get too much bottlenecking and SLI not working enough to be worth getting two, just get the one 1080. My 3570k bottlenecks GTA V and BF 1 often even though I cut down on background tasks, Zen can't come soon enough.

Any boards that supported 16x/16x would have been done using a PLX chip which can add latency. Normal sli is 8x/8x on the mainstream boards and there is only a couple of percent difference between that and 16x/16x.

After a quick look around some boards that can do 16x/16x are:-

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7
Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3
Asus P8Z77 WS
Asrock Z77 Extreme9

There are probably more but it took me 30 minutes just to find those. You are going to be limited to what you can pick up second hand anyway and I dread to think how much any of these will cost. A standard boards is expensive enough second hand let alone high end ones such as these.

Yep good call. You really don't want anything more than a MATX board for 1155. Full ATX for desktop i5/i7's is a waste unless you specifically need the extra PCIe slots.

The ASUS ROG Gene V while difficult to find, is the best board out there for Z77.
