You seem to be on the 200Mb service, so I find it odd that my 150Mb service currently has 22 downstream channels and 2 upstreams. Perhaps you live in a congested area that needs upgrading?

This area has already been upgraded apparently!

My upstream is 16QAM on both channels though, not 64? I do have an attenuator (10dB) attached to the coax that the engineer who originally installed the SH1 said was needed, so I'll remove it and see what I get.

By the way, speedtest gives 187Mbit down and 21Mbit up, so those are all fine. I've updated my Thinkbroadband quality graph, so will leave that running 24hrs and check the graph to see what the overall quality is like on SH3.

Should be noted the Hub v2 only had 8 channels down before!

What's your SNR? You don't want to add 10dB if your levels are already high (which they very likely will be if you throw another 10dB at it!)...

Without the 10dB attenuator (just removed it), the tables currently look like this:

Code:
Downstream bonded channels
Channel	Frequency(Hz)	Power (dBmV)	SNR (dB)	Modulation	Channel ID
1	298750000	11.5 38.9 256 qam 9
2	322750000	11.8 40.3 256 qam 12
3	314750000	11.3 38.9 256 qam 11
4	306750000	11.1 40.9 256 qam 10
5	290750000	10.9 38.6 256 qam 8
6	282750000	11.3 38.9 256 qam 7
7	274750000	11.1 40.3 256 qam 6
8	266750000	10.8 40.3 256 qam 5
9	258750000	11.3 40.3 256 qam 4
10	250750000	11.5 40.3 256 qam 3
11	242750000	11.3 40.3 256 qam 2
12	234750000	11.5 40.3 256 qam 1

Code:
Upstream bonded channels
Channel ID	Frequency(Hz)	Mode	Power (dBmV)	Modulation	Channel Bandwidth(Hz)	Symbol Rate (ksps)
2 39400000	ATDMA	37.8 16 qam 6400000 5120
1 46200000	ATDMA	37.8 16 qam 6400000 5120

Using the Hub3 primer thread on VM forums (link), I appear to be within the tolerances without having to use the attenuator it seems? Maybe VM have fixed the power issues I used to have way back before the area was fully upgraded if so, meaning I don't need the attenuator the engineer installed from before.

Keep your landline as you'll be paying for it with the BB contract even if you don't have it.

I had the original Tivo back in the day which was nice and quick, only had a single analogue tuner though so had to be retired.

Never liked the slow performance from the Sky and VM boxes after using the Tivo so moved to a HTPC with Windows Media Centre back in the Vista days. If you only watch to free to air channels throw in a couple of dual-tuner cards, DVB-T2 or DVB-S2, with a large HDD. There are other options but nothing beats WMC's ease of use and setup.

I'm on 70MB but getting this regularly now, not bad.

Same here, lol. Getting a couple of Mbps over 70Mbps is so great in my opinion, haha. :D :) Also the 70Mbps package (if you have access to it) is probably the best and most efficient package in my opinion - it's not too fast and it's not too slow. It's just about right for everything, can't go wrong with it at all.

Well, I just got off the phone with retentions and tried to leave the contract due to the line rental increase. The fella said that the no penalty period ended on 01/11 and said I had received a letter notifying me of the increase in August which I have no evidence of as i scoured my paperwork when I saw it mentioned. He said there would be a cancellation charge of £140 and gave me £30 credit. There are also contention issues in my post code which means my 150Mb runs at 60Mb in peak hours and not much better out side but that wasn't enough to free me from my contract, he said any deal would time me into another contract and didn't want to do that unless i was satisfied with the performance.

They'd probably put line rental up again so I'd get a free get out/ negotiating tool within the year anyway so maybe it'd be worth calling again and seeing what the offers were?

Not bad for the monthly price it works out a bit cheaper in comparison to bt or skys fiber.

I seem to remember seeing a virgin staff member on cableforum say that the system doesn't show them when or even if they sent the letter to you. It's not definitive proof but the amount of people able to phone up and use it as an excuse to get out of the contract or get a lower price before they've even been sent a letter would appear to back that up.

It coul be that the last batch of letters went out more than 30 days ago but it's probably worth calling back to speak to a different person

I rang vm and told them to cancel everything the women on the phone told me it was my computer to which I started asking why it was my computer I have a z170 board anyway she didn't have a clue and put me through to some dude who said he'll change afew things then this happend bare in mind I've never seen it past 90 ever.

So it appears that the modem in the SH3 is poor compared to the one in the SH2. I've been monitoring my line since upgrading to the gamer package from non gamer, and the thinkbroadband graph has much higher latency spikes than the SH2 did.

And this thread on VM forums shows the same findings: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5...ncy-Cause/td-p/3271492/highlight/false/page/3

If there's no word of a fix for this, then I'm going to complain to VM and downgrade back to 200Mb on SH2.

I have been back on a 2AC for months - good luck trying to get one!
