What is the new high-performance budget android phone?

I'm a bit out of the loop on Android phones these days.
What's the best value for money phone out around now that can run most apps without compatability or performance issues?

Preferably around £200.

Yeah mega spec for the money - though the warranty is always a concern.

Thanks for the suggestion. But I'd rather go for something more widely available and that's not going to need a load of rooting and effort to make useful in the UK.
