It will work just fine and it should do 4Ghz+ all depends on the cooling.

yeah, i am going to use a deepcool AIO so will report back once i have the machine built and ready to rock.

have you bought the board yet?
I got my 4690k up to 4.5GHz and it was stable. I ran it at 4.4Ghz 24/7 without a problem.
if you have a good cooler you should be able to get close to that.
the 4670k does run hotter than the 4690k but if you were to delid it you could get really good results.
My 4770k is delidded and runs at 4.5Ghz 24/7 and I would say runs cooler than my 4690k did at 4.4Ghz

some of the early Haswell CPU's had problems with the thermal compound used between the die and the heat spreader they fixed the issue with the later chips ie the 4690k and 4790k
a delidded chip has had the heat spreader removed and the old thermal compound removed.
