If you don't try it you'll never know. The only serious downside I can see is the number of LAN ports.

Easily fixed with a switch.
You could even use the Asus as a switch in the short term. Stick it into AP mode and then switch the radios off (or leave them on if you want it to work as an AP).

I've switched from Virgin (200mb - superhub 2) to a Sky Q hub (80mb) recently and the WiFi is much better with the Sky Q Hub...
