I'm looking at trying to see if using VPN will solve my fifa gaming issues on PS4...

Ive got BT Infinity and Smart Hub (HH6)

Is there a way I can easy try this (without much cost) with the stuff Ive got? I don't really want to be buying a new router etc...

Cheers

I have a feeling in fifa that bt are doing some kind of shaping or something...

I want to try using a VPN tunnel to see if the game plays any better... just want to give it a go...

Need a good VPN with a few hours trial to give it a go and see if it makes things better...

They won't be specifically traffic shaping Fifa - if anything they would be more likely to shape traffic that they can't accurately classify/inspect (e.g. VPNs).

I assume you have tried just putting the PS4 in DMZ to rule out any homehub issues - also I assume you have tested with wired (not wireless) connection?

If it works in the DMZ, then may be worth trying to manually port forward:

Fifa is P2P and im sure they somehow are misclassifying it...

I have no internet issues.........

I get 14ms ping to bbc.co.uk and 89ms to EA in America

No jitter / No Packet Loss

Full 50/10 speeds

Other games play fine - Rocket League, The Division, Counterstrike...

In Fifa I am getting terrible gameplay caused by lag

I was just wanting to try something different to see if it works

Also I read you can use a crossover cable on laptop and use VPN via that????

Regardless of whether Fifa is P2P, it has a very different "signature" to actual "P2P" (e.g. filesharing) traffic, and as above BT don't traffic shape P2P anyway...

Counterstrike isn't a PS4 game - so can't really include that.

Adding extra latency via a VPN isn't going to help either.

Start with the basics:
- How is the PS4 connected (wired or wireless)?
- What NAT Type is the PS4 showing?
- Have you tried putting the PS4 in the DMZ?

Cheers Arma...

My PS4 is wired
NAT is 2
I tried putting PS4 in DMZ (didn't make any difference)

Also tried:-
Using the white BT Modem and connecting directly to that
