I am trying to set up my server so that I can WOL it when I'm out of the house.
The server seems to be correctly configured - I can successfully WOL it from within my network.
I have followed various guides and set things up as follows:
I have a Virgin hub in modem mode connected to an ASUS RT-AC68U.
Within the ASUS router, I have forwarded UDP port 9 to 192.168.1.22 (the address I have allocated to the server).
When the server is switched on, my WOL sniffer successfully receives a magic packet sent from https://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/woli
However, when the server is switched off, it will not wake up from the packet sent over the internet, only from within the LAN. I have tried various WOL apps with no more success than from that website above.
Any thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong or any alternative suggestions as to how I can wake the server remotely?
Many thanks.
