Just read back the topics. Even 2500k OC is fine with some limitation.
I'd say that there's some life in your cpu yet, though a new processor will certainly unleash more value out of a high end card like the 1080. If that's the card you want, then get it, but perhaps consider moving up to a new platform not too terribly far down the line. That's what I'd do anyway.

Go for it I'd say, your results could be better but you'll still get to experience most of what the card has to offer. On a 4690K I experienced a huge jump when upgrading from a 970 to a 980 Ti.

I'd say go for it. I am running an old i7 CPU and the jump in performance was spectacular.
