I need m.2 as a PCI card would interfere with my loop.

That is an M.2, it just comes with a PCI card adapter, or not, depending on which version you choose. It's just an M.2 mounted on a PCI card though, so you could buy the version with the adapter and just remove it to mount on your motherboard directly, though not much point in that if you're never gonna use the adapter.

Desktop users can still harness the power of the RD400 even if they don't have an M.2 slot by purchasing the PCIe adapter card version. Both models will be available in capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1024GB

[Edit] It's not NVMe though, you'll have to wait for the mysterious 1TB 950 Pro if you want that.
