Looking for some advice if possible folks. I `m considering buying an Intel 750 PCIe SSD card but I `m concerned about what level of performance I would get from it. My CPU is an i7 4790K, amd I understand that it supports 16 PCI 3.0 lanes? I currently have an ASUS GTX980 STRIX occupying the first PCIe 3.0 slot so I guess I am extracting max performance from the GPU. I could install the Intel card in the 2nd PCIe 3.0 slot but what performance hit would the GPU take if it is forced to run at x8 speed?
Finally, I also have a PCIe 2.0 X16 slot which I believe can run at a maximum of x4 mode. If I drop the Intel 750 into this slot, I don`t think it affects the performance of the PCIe 3.0 slots, but what performance hit would the Intel drive take if I installed it here?
