Wd my book nas

Can't seem to find this on my network now for some reason and tried everything I can think of. As I never really use the nas for anything other than the pc is there any harm in opening the case and fitting the hdd in my pc. Will everything be accessible that is on it?

Can you ping the IP of the NAS?

You could try resetting the unit. See the relevant manual.
