I searched but I did not see a thread about this.

A Warhammer 40,000 themed spaceship-based real time strategy game has been announced by Focus Home Interactive and Tindalos Interactive.

Drawing inspiration from the tabletop space fleet strategy game Battlefleet Gothic, released under Games Workshop's specialist games range, Armada will let players take command of one of four races from the 40K universe.

Battling for the Gothic sector of space, players can marshal the imperial navy, the forces of Chaos, the Eldar or the haphazard Orks.

The title is being built in Unreal Engine 4 and not only covers ship battles but fleet management between skirmishes. Individual ships in the players' fleets will be able to be customised from weapon loadouts to logistical sub systems.

A release date has not yet been announced but more details are promised soon.

Following the collapse of THQ, which previously held the Warhammer 40,000 license, Games Workshop has been a bit more liberal with who can license its IP, including the universe's fantasy component.

Battlefleet Gothic is not the first of Games Workshop's specialist games to receive the video game treatment, with literal fantasy football strategy game Blood Bowl and squad based skirmish game Mordenheim both seeing a digital release. Classic and out of print dungeon crawler Warhammer Quest was also recently translated to tablet devices and later ported to desktops.

Earlier this month, an entry to the Total War series based on Warhammer Fantasy Battle was accidentally teased in a pre-release art book by developer Creative Assembly that was spotted by an eagle-eyed fan who got early access to the book.

Will be interesting to see. Wonder how they deal with 3D space in an RTS.

Looks low budget, graphics look average at best - I'm sceptical but hopefully my cynicism is unfounded.

I do hope they make a few good 3d space RTS games, still waiting for a real continuation to home-world/nexus the Jupiter incident (the only two games worth playing in the genre)

Again another Warhammer 40k game... I really hope they can make this relatively decent as the trailer doesn't look too bad in terms of ship rendering!

No full official website yet though... http://www.battlefleetgothic-armada.com/

Warhammer 40k is just crying out for innumerable epic games, it's by far the best science-fiction universe ever created imo, and I say that as a Star Wars fan.

I remember playing the table top version in my youth and loving it. there was a real sense of scale and tactical play. Not sure they should deviate too much from the original game, creating homeworld style 3d gameplay may ruin what made the original good.

Looks like it could be pretty good.

Just one thing worries me though. Warp out to repair? No thanks, I'd rather take my chances in a severely damaged ship than face that horror.

I can't wait for this. Not long now, and it actually looks like a game that could be good even without the warhammer IP. This and eternal crusade could really make this my favourite year

Looks cool, it's on my list of games to get once I have a new PC. You guys may also want to take a look at "Starhammer the Vangard prophecy" on steam. Turn based space combat game I like very much.
