House not suitable for powerline.. Options?

Looking for options as house I'm in isn't suitable for powerline connections.
Max transfer rate is 3.5 MegaBytes per second from server to HTPC

Main problem I see is that I need to wake my microsever using WOL. So do I need an ethernet cable to wireless access point or something?

No, I mean run ethernet from the router to each device.
