I currently have this mobo: Asus H81M-PLUS Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £40.99

and I want to connect my old Western Digital and Maxtor IDE HDDs to that motherboard so I can access the files?

I believe I need a IDE to SATA cable, but just want to make sure!!

Thanks in advance

You'll need an IDE to SATA converter, usually a little board that you plug a SATA cable in one end and IDE in the other. Plenty of them available if you Google.

Either that or just get an external IDE enclosure, little bit more expensive but it means you don't have to mess about inside the case. Especially if you just want to transfer the contents and then you're done.
