Budget laptop recommendations under £300

My wife is looking for a laptop and has asked me to look for one but I'm a bit lost. We have a Macbook air and she really doesn't get on with it at all so wants a return to a windows system. It's really not going to get heavy use. She wants to organise all her photos on it and just do the usual Web browsing etc. She's not keen on the combo tablet laptop things although she likes the lightweight portability that they give. Decent hard disk would be handy but even that isn't absolutely essential as we have plenty of USB sticks and external hard disks kicking about.

Basically at the lower end of the budget scale I really don't know what is decent and really all I'm looking for is best value for money and something decent for our limited requirements. Can anyone offer any suggestions that would come in under 300 quid? Thanks in advance.
